The Punjabi American Growers’ Group (PAGG) is hosting the Central Valley Growers Agricultural Workshop on Saturday, May 18th from 8:00am to 3:00pm on the grounds of the Madera Gurudwara Sahib, Sikh Tempel at 23249 Avenue 14 in Madera.
The Director of PAGG said, “We’re excited to be able to bring to one location many experts in ag related areas willing to share their knowledge. Farmers in California are facing unprecedented challenges. By working together, we believe we can all benefit and prosper. But that requires us to know what the real issues are and how to approach solutions. This event is for everyone, Punjabi or not. Growers or not. All who want to preserve this Valley’s ag way of life are welcome to join us.”
Featured will be a series of panel discussions covering the topics growers need to be informed about to stay competitive in California agricultural industry. Professional development will also be offered with 1.5 Continuing Education credits available to eligible Pest Control Advisors for Laws and Regulations, Pests, and Diseases.
PAGG brings together a wide range of resources, vendors, and information to the farmers of the Central Valley. Subjects include:
- Global marketing
- State of the industry
- Sustainability of family farmers
- How to address climate change and climate smart agriculture
Supporting public-private partnerships through the Regional Conservation Partnership Program Water markets, drought resilience, water rights, future agricultural economics and the impacts of Sustainable Groundwater Management Act on farming in California’s Central Valley.
The 1.5 C.E. credits are available on laws and regulations from the Fresno County Agricultural Commissioner, industry-wide threats in pests from the Merced County Cooperative Extension, and industry-wide threats in diseases from University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources.
Over 12 vendors will be available for breakfast and lunch which is provided free of charge. Vendors of innovative ag products and services will present to showcase their offerings. Several non-profit organizations will have booths on hand to distribute helpful information to attendees.
