The State Water Resources Control Board, in partnership with the Punjabi American Growers Group, is excited to invite Central Valley growers to a workshop focused on the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) and its implications for the Punjabi American farming community. This interactive event will take place on Thursday, December 5, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Visalia Convention Center, located at 303 E Acequia Ave., Visalia, CA. The workshop will cover essential topics to support growers in navigating SGMA requirements, including an introduction to SGMA, specific challenges faced by the grower community, available resources, and opportunities for sustainable groundwater management.
State Water Board representatives, along with other key state agency staff, will be present to share their expertise and answer any questions participants may have. The workshop agenda includes:
- Welcome and Opening Remarks,
- Introduction to SGMA,
- Challenges for Growers; Resources and Opportunities,
- Panel Discussion with Audience Questions, and
- Closing Remarks.
